The Mechanical Design Engineer 3 is responsible for managing the highest complexity of mechanical designs, mechanical devices or mechanical systems as part of product development. The Mechanical Design Engineer 3 prepares schedules and costs for all mechanical areas as they relate to a product development project, which includes product design, tooling and fixtures, packaging, and any other area of the product development process. The Engineer is responsible for execution of the project according to the project schedule and for coordination of any capital expenditures related to the project. The Mechanical Design Engineer 3 will supervise a team of junior Mechanical Engineers and designers assigned to the project team and direct their activities to work toward the completion of the project.
You are responsible for
Performs product development activities, including CAD layout, interpretation, and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
Directs and coordinates all activities necessary to complete a major mechanical design project or several intermediate projects.
May prepare mechanical engineering studies, specifications, cost estimates, and coordinate design reviews to monitor the project progress.
Drive mechanical engineering standardization for CAD, mechanical FEA, mechanical design tools, mechanical design processes, while promoting innovation and creativity within the mechanical engineering department.
May serve as a liaison on specific projects between functional departments.
Prepares and delegate staff work assignments, monitor progress of projects.
Develops and implements department goals which are aligned with overall company goals. Promote growth within department by consistently assigning challenging assignments within the scope and expertise of each individual.
Must have a strong understanding of Mechanical CAD software tools and practices.
Some travel to client facilities and other Invivo operations with a variety of working conditions.
Additional support areas include production support, engineering documentation support, and prototype shop areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
Strong understanding of engineering methodology and processes.
Advanced knowledge of all tools, measurement and testing devices (including analyzers) required for fabrication of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and systems.
Excellent understanding of provided computer software to design and evaluate devices.
Typically requires a technical degree or advanced technical degree and five to seven years related experience.
