Philips Category Manager in Guildford, United Kingdom


In this role, you have the opportunity to be responsible for using insights and stories to inspire action that drive category growth for Philips and their key retail partners. You will own non-commercial retailer relationships, combining retail and shopper data to produce BIC range reviews and impartial recommendations which are implemented by internal and external stakeholders.

You will have a positive, can do approach and work with Sales and Marketing teams to drive distribution and visibility of Philips hero products.

You are responsible for

  • Delivering actionable insights and recommendations across their categories that they use to hold marketing, Sales, BG to account (Omni)

  • Range reviews (certain accounts) from creating the brief, managing the process, and reporting on outcome (all RR to include online learnings)

  • Deliver against agreed distribution and online visibility targets

  • Category story, updating as required to include latest insights & opportunities

  • Deep dives as required (inc QBR reviews) on market, retailers with insights and recommendations on growth opportunities & how to improve performance

  • Retailer and Internal Projects (online and offline)

  • Working with the DAM to embed online KPI’s and insights that unlock category and Philips growth and deepen digital understanding across Philips UK.

  • Using impartial category expertise to build buyer level relationships and influence change.

You are a part of the Strategy and Insights team, reporting to the Strategy and Category Management Lead. Category Management is a key function sitting between Marketing and Sales focused on driving category growth. You will partner closely with Sales and Marketing to identify unique and relevant opportunities, and helps realise these opportunities

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Professional knowledge of market data analysis, methodology and relevant agencies

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, both internal and external

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to “join the dots” between online and offline KPI’s,

  • Retail expert with intimate understanding of how key online and offline retail levers can drive performance (Traffic, Ranging, Merchandising, Display, Promotion, Service, Pricing)

  • Ability to manage projects across multiple functions both internally and externally

  • Ability to turn online and offline data into meaningful insights and insights that drive action.

  • Strong, concise presentation skills and storytelling

  • Category management experience (ideally at large FMCG manufacturer)
