The Market organizations need in various situations support from a person with a research background and with a good understanding of the projects at Philips Research. Many projects at Research are in need of direct access to the market for information or for cooperative projects. A Market organization in today’s setting is often not sufficiently aware of the Research programs that are relevant for the market. The Innovation Hub Eindhoven is going to be a main business development hub with very high relevance especially for the European markets.
Increasingly the direct cooperation between the Market and Research will lead to win-win situations and enable successful capturing of new business opportunities. In order to foster this further cooperation, a new position will be created.
The primary role of the Research Liaison Director UK/I is to identify new areas of innovation that will have direct impact on the aligned Market United Kingdom/Ireland. The Liaison will be responsible for coordinating efforts in Philips Research that are tailored specifically to our
Relationship Management to relevant key stakeholders of main Health Insurances, Research Institutions, relevant health driven unions in the Market
Participation in information sharing sessions for education of Businesses, Research and market partners business partners in the aligned Market. The role will stimulate and coordinate all research projects connected to the local business partners (including Academia, governments, subsidy / grant providers, strategic healthcare providers, etc.) as well as innovation stakeholders in Philips.
The role will identify, specify and realize co-creation innovation partnerships that aim at first-of-a-kind business models for Philips in the aligned Market, teaming up with the Solutions Leader in the Market, the BM&S leaders, Governmental Affairs, Chief Medical Office and working with Marketing and Business Management colleagues as required. The role builds and maintains health advocacy and advisory relations with payer, provider, vendor and consumer organizations in aligned Market to lead health policy innovation dialogues and forums and also will coordinate the communication with key stakeholders and external partners . Administrational duties also include the orchestration of collaborations with external parties, and the supervision of grant applications.
The Liaison will support the Market in situation where a research background is needed: e.g. in the context of interaction with customers, participating in tender discussions, developing and/or communicating long term strategic directions, interaction with research institutes, etc. The candidate should be able to participate in tender processes through analysis of the opportunity and matching the insights and needs of the particular institute to the Philips innovation portfolio . Through these tenders the candidate should help to increase our potential to win in commercial deals, in addition to a regular exchange of innovation roadmaps and project opportunities from both sides. The Liaison will work in close collaboration with Euro Partners and Governmental Affairs in the Market.
The above role requires a combined innovation/business development profile of the candidate with at least 7-10 year experience in research with a commercial mindset and outlook.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Assessment and preparation of relevant Research and Innovation propositions in close collaboration with Research Program Mgt, Businesses, Market Account Mgt, Government Affairs, Clinical Scientists, Health Economics and Market Access, Medical Office, Innovation Mgt, all in line with the Philips Innovation Strategy.
Project definition, review and coordination for selected co-creation research projects
Systematic alignment with Philips Research programs, with Research opportunities in the aligned Market
Submission of new grant proposals, reporting of running projects
Trend watching for technology development in aligned Market
Strategic alignment of these technology trends to the market and the businesses
Responsible for close collaboration within the Euro Partners network, keeping Market MT members up to date on opportunities, deadlines, submissions, reporting, etc.
The candidate reports directly to the Head of Europe Market Innovation & Customer co-creation at the Innovation Hub Europe and through a dotted line to the aligned Market Leader.
Completed technical / scientific study
Very good knowledge and understanding of the aligned market health systems
Several years of professional experience (innovation management, technology transfer, funding advice)
Experience in the interaction between business and politics
Excellent analytical, strategic and conceptual thinking skills and constantly familiarizing yourself with new subject areas and technologies
High ability to work in a team, great flexibility and resilience
Excellent level of communication skills, persuasiveness, diplomacy and networking
Confident demeanour with result-oriented attitude
High level of social competence
