Position : Statutory and Tax Accountant Philips Electronics UK Ltd.

Philips Electronic UK Ltd part of the Global Philips Group. We are looking for a Statutory And Tax Accountant for the UK and Ireland Market. The position is UK based in Guildford as reports to the UK Head of Finance and works closely with the UK FBP’s and tax specialists. Is accountable for the timely publication of the UK Statutory Accounts and similar. Also takes the lead towards our External Auditors and the Tax authorities.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Stay updated with changes on statutory rules and regulations Translate IFRS/GAAP to Local GAAP via statutory adjustments

  • Provide accurate, completed & timely data for statutory reporting, fiscal reporting and other requirements

  • Manage on local level Operating Model for Statutory Reporting/Corporate Income Taxes

  • Contact point for PWC CITand local authorities

  • Manages Statutory and Periodic Internal Audits.

  • First contact point for external auditors

  • Fulfills requests from regulatory & tax authorities- provide support during fiscal audits.

  • Co-ordination with Accounting Operation, Tax Group, MTM , CTM on any other statutory accounting related activities

  • Constantly look for improvement opportunities in the area of direct responsibility, but not limited to and drive implementation (compliance, quality and process efficiency)

  • Complete Internal Controls work according to Internal Control Standards( ICS ) tool on a timely and accurate basis and supervise ICS tasks carried out by other members

  • Support and drive standardization/harmonization of Statutory Accounting ways of working across regions

  • Deliver on the appropriate KPI’s

Competencies and Experience

  • Distinguished by additional specialized knowledge in breadth and/or depth, as well as record of success in relevant business process/function.

  • Viewed as an expert in the field.

  • May have a leadership role.

  • Has expert level knowledge of company products and services and may be tasked with introducing new concepts.

  • Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional

  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives areas, divisions, and/or customers.

  • Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

Experience and Background

  • ACA qualified with a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree;  Familiar with local tax and statutory requirements

  • Level of technical knowledge of IFRS (advanced / master)

  • Ability to be sparring partner for internal and external specialists (business valuators, external accountants, M&A, legal, Treasury)

  • Ability for “insourcing”

  • Knowledge of local GAAP to tax GAAP differences

  • Merger and Acquisition Accounting

In this role, you have the opportunity to complete the statutory accounts and provide some assistance on relevant tax issues as part of an exceptional, high-performing finance team with Philips.

You are a part of a team of 7 finance professionals, reporting directly to the Finance Director. Based in the Guildford office with an extremely agile working environment.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ideally ACA)

  • Big 4 background

  • Familiar with local tax and statutory requirements

  • Knowledgeable with IFRS

  • Experience with tax accounting desirable

  • Merger and Acquisition Accounting
