Philips Developer Reconstruction Clinical MRI in Highland Heights, Ohio


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Work in the Research & Development department in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Join a global team of software and hardware engineers developing the next generation of MR systems. As a reconstruction algorithms developer you develop and adapt reconstruction algorithms to provide improvements in image quality or new clinical applications.

You are responsible for

  • bringing clinical MR features from research stage through advanced development into products in the field by delivering product quality software and documentation.

  • Innovate, specify, prototype, engineer, test and document MR reconstruction algorithms.

  • extension and optimization of the existing Philips MR software with emphasis on clinical functionality and usability, operating in a strong cross-functional interaction across all business disciplines, like hardware, software, system integration and verification, marketing and product application.

  • Maintaining contacts with clinical sites and other groups within Philips to exchange and advance knowledge in the application of MRI to new areas.

  • You will contribute to conferences and file patent disclosures, and over time have opportunities to expand your skills into other areas of MR development.

You are a part of

the Business Innovation Unit Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) within Philips Healthcare . The BIU MRI is responsible for marketing, product development and lifecycle management of the whole radiology portfolio, including 3T, 1.5T High/Mid/Value performance, and 7T Research MRI.

Within the BIU MRI you will join the R&D Methods & Recon team. This global team of about 65 engineers is highly committed to develop and deliver new clinical features to the market. The position is within the Reconstruction team located in Best(The Netherlands), but you will be located at Mayo Clinic in Rochester to co-create clinical features with the researchers at Mayo.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience/Preferred Skills:

  • Post-graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Physics, Mathematics, or MR related science

  • Basic understanding of MR physics and experience with developing MR reconstruction algorithms, either during PhD or within the medical devices industry

  • Experience with solving large systems of equations and inverse problems

  • Experience programming in C++ and/or Python for clinically relevant applications development

  • Proven innovation ability (e.g. patents, journal papers)

  • Ability to perform in a complex and highly regulated environment

  • Excellent communication skills (English language) and the ability to interact with multidisciplinary professionals

  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa

  • Located at Mayo Clinic in Rochester to co-create clinical features with the researchers at Mayo
