Join the dynamic Category Management team at Philips North America to work alongside highly driven and passionate teammates and drive profitable category growth for Best Buy and Philips.
The ideal candidate is passionate, energetic and driven, loves challenges and consistently thinks outside of the box . The ability to weave together the art and science of category management principles is a must. The Category Manager reports, analyzes and presents key insights and recommendations to Best Buy to achieve assigned goals. Your objective is to drive category growth for Best Buy and Bestbuy.com via optimized assortments, sound merchandising strategies, and competitive insights. You will also support Philips’ internal sales, marketing and planning teams to achieve market share and sales targets.
You are responsible for
Deliver best-in-class category management talent to Best Buy
Employ category management skills and tools to deliver against sales, share and profit objectives.
Effectively utilize numerous data resources to continuously provide insights and recommendations for the 4 P’s (product, placement, pricing, and promotion).
Collaborate with Best Buy buyers to design and execute category strategies.
Provide valuable market intelligence by frequently documenting and analyzing the merchandising and product strategies of Best Buy’s top competitors.
Identify white space opportunities for the category.
Utilize shopper insights resources to provide context on shopper behavior and trends.
Maintain promotional recaps and analyze promotional effectiveness.
Manage the entire POG building process with substantial attention to detail.
Furnish Best Buy with a full complement of reporting including weekly dashboards, monthly market share recaps, annual category reviews, custom research findings, and seasonal trend overviews.
Be objective and un-biased in all deliverables.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Influence action throughout the Philips organization
Educate Philips sales, marketing and planning teams on category trends and opportunities.
Aid Philips sales team in the development of sound, impactful strategies to achieve volume and share goals.
Develop and deploy best-in-class category management and analytic practices within the Philips Category management team, assuming leadership role on key internal initiatives to drive next-level thinking across the organization.
You are a part of
You will report directly to the Director of Category Management for Philips U.S. based in Stamford, Connecticut. You will join a team of driven and highly knowledgeable category management professionals located in Minneapolis. We are tight knit, high performing team sharing best practices and continually driving improvement and enhancement to what we deliver to customers and internal teams.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a marketing or consumer-oriented discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
6+ years experience in category management or retail merchandising.
High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Proficiency with customer POS, syndicated data (i.e. IRI, Nielsen), and shopper research.
Omni channel-oriented retail mind with measurable impact on both the online and offline retail environments.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with a proven record of building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Deep analytical expertise with experience in gathering and interpreting data from numerous resources.
Demonstrated thought-leadership with proven ability to influence retail strategies and achieve goals.
Adept at multi-tasking while successfully meeting and exceeding deadlines and goals.
High level of attentiveness to detail and quality time management.
Desire to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing and sometimes ambiguous environment.
Must be driven, resourceful, curious, and a fast learner.
Strong and effective communication, both written and verbal, with excellent presentation skills.
Uncompromising in your professionalism and ethical conduct.
