You will be a member of the Philips Sleep & Respiratory Care leadership team and will lead the Ventilation and Airway Clearance Development Team. This team is a dynamic cross-functional team that is responsible for new product development for invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation and airway clearance devices and system solutions. You will serve as a people leader with direct responsibility for development and growth of this team and serve as a champion of the Philips culture to the greater development organization.
You are responsible for
Ensuring appropriate personnel management practices regarding recruitment and selection, adequate staffing, remuneration, performance appraisals, education and training, and management development policy.
Ensuring an engaged, innovative, and inspiring working environment in the department by motivating, challenging, and coaching the department’s employees towards growth, manages and optimizes the innovative climate, stimulating entrepreneurship and driving engagement.
Successfully interacting with a matrixed project team including Project Management, Product Management, Development and Test Engineers, Global Sourcing, Quality and Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Philips Design, Operations, and Service to achieve project and product objectives for safety, performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost, quality, and time to market.
Prepare and communicate project overviews and status reports to upper management.
Ensure adherence to good engineering practices, procedures, and Quality System Requirements.

This role will initially be based in our Murrysville office. Philips will be relocatingthis office to a new site in Bakery Square, one of the premier locations in Pittsburgh. This is a very exciting time to be joining Philips, as this new location will be the Sleep & Respiratory Center of Excellence. The new office is set to open in 2021.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or similar discipline required with a Masters Degree preferred
10+ years of development experience in bringing new concepts from idea to market
8+ years of experience in medical device development with knowledge of medical device safety standards
Strong demonstrated ability to coach and motivate a team and build a strong culture in line with Philips Behaviors

Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position. Candidates need to live within commuting distance to this office
Experience in the following areas is highly desired:
Prior supervisory or management experience
Track record of success in New Product Development and Innovation
Demonstrated successful results in staff development and leading technical teams
Excellent communication and presentation skills for reporting project status and conducting design reviews
Experience working closely with Product Marketing in understanding clinical needs, market observation for new products, trends, and competition developments
Experience applying operational excellence in execution by meeting milestones, working on continuous improvement and focusing on quality
Identifying and using external ideas and cooperating with external parties to speed up time to market
Creating Intellectual Property and contributing to IP-assessment
Contributing to the translation and shaping of innovation strategies, roadmaps and competencies to identify new valued opportunities for the Respiratory Care business
