In this role, you have the opportunity to
Participate in design, implementation, test, and documentation efforts necessary to support the development of mechanical components for use in Hospital Patient Interface Accessories. This includes all aspects of the product lifecycle, from research, through development, to sustaining. The candidate will work on tasks necessary to meet project goals for products being developed for Hospital Respiratory Care.
You are responsible for
Design and detail components and systems, including conducting predictive analysis and calculations.
Select materials and processes appropriate for those designs
Obtain parts and create prototypes.
Write test protocols, conduct tests, analyze data, and report results.
Successfully interact with associates in other departments, such as Manufacturing Operations, Procurement, and engineering staff to achieve project and product objectives.
Develop new test methods and tools as necessary. Specify, acquire, and maintain lab equipment.
Operate lab instruments such as manometers, flow meters, data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, and computer programs.
Be a highly motivated, self-disciplined, open minded, individual possessing hands-on skills.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
BS or MS in Mechanical, Plastics, Biomedical, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university program
3+ years of relevant engineering experience is required. Patient Interface mask/circuit experience is preferred.
Knowledge in design of injection molded plastic parts, materials selection, stress analysis, air flow patterns and properties.
Ability to document requirements, tests, and designs.
Ability to rapidly develop engineering concepts and drive them to functional prototypes.
Ability to effectively utilize both empirical and theoretical methods to solve complex problems.
Experience with CFD analysis, FEA, and/or other analytical software programs.
Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Ability to work effectively with individuals on a project team.
Demonstrated ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to solve problems.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience in the design and development of medical devices or the medical device industry.
