Play a critical role in the Architecture and Design for Sleep & Respiratory Care business with a focus in Research & Development for next the generation Ventilation and Airway Clearance device platforms.
You are responsible for:
The Senior Systems Architect will be part of the Respiratory Care I2M R&D team and will work closely with a cross-functional project team to architect next generation devices/solutions for Ventilation and Airway Clearance.
The Senior Systems Architect is a leader who is technically end-responsible, balancing current and future stakeholder/business needs while translating these needs into architectural and technological choices.
Helps the project team define and implement a solution, which is suitable for current and upcoming features, while conforming to non-functional requirements. Ensures creation and realization of architectures focusing on architectural and design decisions.
Drives discussions with stakeholders of other departments, such as marketing, regulatory, customer service, operations, etc.
Development of a roadmap of all parts allowing decoupling of product lifecycle and function advancement and includes scenarios to meet future product specifications.
Overall design of system to subsystem architecture to the level that it can be realized by project teams and defines the architecture in modular, easy-to maintain and extendible subsystems.
Coach development team members to contribute optimally to the architecture process.
Maintain contacts with colleagues within and outside Philips, other R&D teams and universities, in order to participate in strategic platforms and to keep track of new developments.
Advises on internal development or outsourcing.
Responsible for the creation of the HW/SW architecture in modular, easy-to-maintain and extendible components and modules.
Addresses the constraints that originate from legal and quality requirements.
Maintains multi-product interdependencies with long-term implications for product design, serviceability, production facilities, etc.
Has an in-depth understanding of all products and their applications of the Product Line.
Accelerates learning curve by arranging personal coaching, studying and reusing of internal and external best practices and by making use of the Philips Architecture Community.
Participates in Design Reviews and guides development activities in projects.
You are a part of:
Our passionate, talented Sleep & Respiratory Care R&D team focused in the design and development of life-saving Respiratory Care products.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical/ Engineering discipline- Electrical, Systems, Biomedical or equivalent (MS/Ph.D desired)
Minimum of 10+ years’ experience focused in Systems Engineering/Design/Architecture initiatives for highly regulated new product development environments (Medical Device, Aerospace, DOD or other regulated industries)
Experience creating technological roadmaps for new products and defining/deploying platforms inside the roadmap
Direct experience with European Union Medical Device Regulation, preferred.
Direct experience with ISO Safety Standards for Medical Devices, preferred.
Direct experience with FDA Requirements (including safety and regulatory testing) and their application within a medical product development environment, preferred .
