Philips Medical Registration and Authorization Specialist in Nashville, Tennessee

In this role, you have the opportunity to:

Act as a liaison between sales, patients, medical personnel, and other internal/external stakeholders. In addition, this role will review documentation and accurately collect required financial and demographic information for all patients.

You are responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Obtaining and entering Medicaid authorizations for treatment from various payers and following up on authorization requests, running reports, and identifying expiring authorizations

  • Accurately maintaining patient files and current authorization information

  • Coordinating with various locations regarding authorization statuses and assist with insurance verification and other billing office related activities

  • Reviewing claims for the accuracy of procedures, diagnoses, demographic and insurance information

  • Obtaining and entering referrals, payer changes, equipment upgrades, information updates, etc.

  • Reviewing and correcting all claims/charge denials and edits that are communicated via Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Associates Degree in Medical Billing and Coding or Accounting, preferred

  • 1+ years of experience in medical billing, documentation review, and/or data entry

  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding and medical terminology

  • Must be technically savvy and comfortable using software, including, but not limited to:

  • Billing Software, MS Office, Insurance Portals, and Electronic Claims Submissions

  • High aptitude to learn new programs, system integrations, and business processes

  • Excellent customer service skills with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage relationships with various insurance payers

  • Strong work ethic with proven track record of accuracy, dependability and consistency

  • Must be able to think independently, multitask, have strong problem solving skills, and have a continuous improvement mentality.

  • Ability to gain the cooperation of others in pursuit of company goals
