The Payer Specialist position is a key role in the Government Services Department. This position is responsible for establishing as well as updating all payer information related to billing, service and intake. They will be a key liaison between contracts, operations, and billing.
You are responsible for
Serves as a subject matter expert on revenue cycle/claim payment rights per contract and regulatory provisions for payers (i.e. file and appeal limits, accepted CPT/Diagnosis codes, NPI’s,).
Serves as a subject matter expert on intake and service payer requirements for Government Services (i.e. installations and service requirements).
Subject matter expert on all top payers.
Creates and maintains current information for all payers.
Ensures revenue cycle, including, service, intake and billing has access to and current key information on all payers (matrix management).
Assimilates and distributes payer information to revenue cycle leaders and team members.
Patrols payer websites, newsletters and related information to ensure current information is captured, reported and stored in payer information data repository as well as communicated to relevant parties.
Acts as a liaison regarding payer information to stakeholders.
Serves as a key contact for contract renewals as well as need contracts; ensures all appropriate Government Service information is obtained, verified and entered into Payer Matrix database.

You are a part of
Philips Lifeline, Government Services Division, customer service dept. working with nationwide states on their Government service’s needs. The team is responsible for updating accounts accurately and in a timely manner to ensure the end user is not at risk and there are no billing implications.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
Associates degree, preferred
5+ years of medical billing experience
Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance and reimbursement procedures
Strong customer service philosophy and demonstrates exemplary customer service through demeanor, approach to relationships with employees and customers, and through leadership style
