Philips Senior Clinical Scientist (Advanced Molecular Imaging / PET) in Orange (OH), Ohio


In this role, you have the opportunity to

The Clinical Scientist manages collaborations with Philips clinical partners (medical doctors and physicists of large academic hospitals) on research projects evaluating new molecular imaging products and applications. He/she may be also involved as the molecular imaging domain expert in supporting sales by giving presentations to customers. The scientist supports product marketing and development departments by providing expertise and advice on technical and clinical aspects of molecular imaging. The preferred location for this role is Orange (Cleveland), OH, but will consider remote employees.

You are responsible for

  • Domain expertise in molecular imaging (PET and SPECT)

  • Specialist in the assigned technical and clinical application area (primarily oncology, cardiology and neurology)

  • Establish an extensive network of contacts in the scientific community

  • Be actively involved in the clinical road mapping process

  • Keep up to date with innovations in molecular imaging technology and medical applications in area of clinical expertise via scientific literature, symposia and international conferences

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Philips’ molecular imaging technology

  • Be able to run the Philips’ PET/CT scanners (incl. workstations) independently, and do patient/phantom scanning

  • Guide clinical research, pre-product development and clinical validation of molecular imaging related products and applications

  • Guide marketing and sales activities including site visits of strategic customers; establish frameworks for troubleshooting image quality issues

  • Be able to advise colleagues in product marketing on new technical and clinical developments, assist in writing commercial and technical commercial documents

  • Be able to advise colleagues in research and development on new technical and clinical developments

  • Write white papers, leaflets, slides and video material etc. on new clinical applications for the use of sales and marketing

  • Manage all clinical activities related to designated research sites and initiate, guide and manage the molecular imaging research projects.

  • Co-ordinate with the global CT/AMI clinical science organization on all clinical and research issues including image quality, clinical applications, new research tools. These activities may encompass:

  • Test and evaluation of prototypes (hardware and software);

  • Initiation and Coordination of clinical trials;

  • Active involvement in research projects initiated by the local Principal Investigator of the host institution and/or Philips;

  • Technical support during site visits of strategic account customers. Facilitation of users groups;

  • Image quality troubleshooting;

  • Initiate new training programs and review quality of clinical training programs;

  • Publish periodically research results in scientific journals and present results at scientific conferences, user or clinical science meetings. Innovate in the field of molecular imaging and process ideas to patent applications

You are a part of

CT AMI, part of Diagnostic Imaging. CT AMI manufactures CT Scanners as well as molecular imaging (PET).

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • MSc degree in physics, chemistry, biomedical engineering or another relevant technical background (Ph.D. degree or MD degree a plus)

  • Knowledge of molecular imaging physics

  • Knowledge of advanced clinical molecular imaging applications

  • Ability to conduct research and set up research studies

  • Professional communication, teaching and presentation skills essential

  • Strong analytical and experimental skills, independent problem solver

  • Social skills (interaction with customers, other departments, sales organization)

  • Languages: fluent English in writing and speaking

  • Travel within North America

  • Occasional international travel (clinical science meetings, development team interaction)
