Philips Software Development Engineer in Orange (OH), Ohio


​Philips Healthcare is currently hiring for a qualified Software Development Engineer as part of the CT / AMI R&D Imaging Software team.

Key Areas for Responsibility include, but are not limited to ;

  • Creates high quality working software.

  • Features driven development in an agile approach.

  • Actively participates in sprint planning, daily stand-up meetings, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives and backlog refinement. Contributes to continuous improvement of the team, software and processes.

  • Designs, codes, documents, tests (automated), maintains and deploys software.

  • Supports DevOps in deploying software.

  • Sets, monitors and ensures to meet own performance metrics.

  • Defines, monitors and meets performance and quality metrics.

  • Provides technical solutions that conform to requirements with a strong focus on end-users, high quality (QMS/regulatory standards), performance, safety and security.

  • Keeps abreast of technical knowledge by studying and implementing state-of-the-art programming techniques and development tools, participating in educational opportunities, participating in communities of practice, reading professional publications and maintaining personal networks.

  • Business knowledge: Has a very good awareness on business context and products. Understands clinical/application domain and systems.

  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in multiple areas of the system, expert in some area.

  • Knowledge Sharing: Shares across teams.

  • Stakeholders: Software CoE, clients, partnership with sub-contractors (e.g. discuss contracts). System designers/ architects.

  • Innovation: Able to generate new solutions from vague problem statements. Full ownership for creating requirements.

  • Freedom to act (level of influence): Across Teams.

  • Impact and Magnitude: Can impact own and partially other teams’ results.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related technical degree, or equivalent professional software engineering experience.

  • At least 3 years of relevant Software Engineering experience in a professional environment.

  • Working knowledge of C++ and data management.

  • Interface design experience.

  • Resource management experience (task scheduling).

Desired Qualifications :

  • Experience in full life-cycle software development in the medical device industry satisfying the design controls specified in the FDA Quality System Regulations or in a similarly disciplined software engineering environment.

  • PowerShell experience

  • Networking, security and GIT experience highly preferred

  • Experience developing software for medical scanner of other medical devices.

  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence and graphics processors.

Skills : Experience with software engineering skills, process, techniques, and tools:

  • Current programming languages, e.g., C++, C# .NET, C, and scripting languages

  • Current operating systems, e.g., Windows, Linux

  • Source code control

  • Software reliability: code reviews, white box testing, TDD, etc.

  • Defect management

  • SCRUM and other forms of Agile Development

  • Software build & test automation

  • System software installation
