Job Description:

  • This is an exciting time to be part of our innovation team. We are taking on healthcare’s biggest challenges through innovative software solutions. This is an opportunity to make a real impact.

  • A Principal Software Engineer working on the innovation team will be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure.

  • The innovation team is responsible for doing Proof of Concept (POC) around technology and product early development stages (pre-dev) and also will incrementally support the development teams in solving technology blocking issues and finding the best technology choices.

Role will include:

  • Writing solid code, making smart design decisions and building scalable software services.

  • Work across the Business Unit to creatively leverage existing services and APIs for our product.

  • Work with category leaders and product managers to build future features to improve the life of millions of people every day.

  • Solve high visibility, complex problems that have a large and direct impact to customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Passionate about software innovation

  • Strong technical leadership skills, including ability to communicate a point of view on solution design that is both technically sound and customer/market relevant

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python or other

  • Proficiency in object oriented design and familiarity with application and database programming

  • Proven experience designing products and solutions in a new product development environment to meet customer and market requirements

  • Knowledge, skills and developed professional behaviors around software engineering best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing and operations

  • 7+ years software development experience

  • 3+ years of experience in designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered or distributed

software applications, tools, systems and services

  • 2+ years of familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, IaaS, PaaS (Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes or other) and SaaS

  • At least 2 years of experience in developing software in an agile programming environment

  • Experience building scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems

  • Experienced with one of the cloud enabling platforms such as AWS, Azure or other

  • Experience designing and building micro-service driven architecture

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • BS Computer science / Computer Engineering (or equivalent); MS preferred

The following education, experience and skills are highly desired:

  • Medical domain knowledge of DICOM, HL7, PACS, Dictation Systems, EMR, etc

  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup / new ventures type environment

  • Effective team building and problem solving abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and best practice

The Philips' Radiology Informatics Business provides a comprehensive solution for medical image storage, enterprise distribution, and enterprise workflow. With you we will be redefining what’s possible with this domain’s toughest problems.

A tight night group we are love engaging hard problems but are agile enough to move fast in a growing and changing environment. We continually trail blaze new limits with technology and process to push what is feasible on behalf of our customers.

To succeed, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Actively contributing expert level OOP and OOD methods with one modern programming language (Java, C#, Python, etc.).

  • BS in Computer Science / Computer Engineering (or relevant years of experience); Master’s Degree a preferred.

  • 10+ years of software development.

  • You will experience engineering with one of the cloud enabling platforms such as AWS, Azure or similar competitors.

  • In-depth data programming (data structures, arrays, matrices) and back-end database dev.

  • Proficiency in ground up development including; Proof of Concepts or Prototype based applications.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery Environment, or DevOps responsibilities.

  • Building applications with a form of service oriented architecture (IE: Microservices).

  • Experience in designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered or distributed software applications, tools, systems and services.

  • Medical domain knowledge of DICOM, HL7, PACS, Dictation Systems, EMR, etc. (is a plus)
