In this role, you have the opportunity to
Verifies insurance policy benefit information and obtains Authorization/Precertification. Assist in identifying problems and ensures that the insurance is accurate on the patient account. Ensures insurance information and appropriate referrals have been completely and accurately obtained.
You are responsible for:
Verifies insurance policy benefits for patients with carriers and employers. This includes primary, secondary and tertiary carriers.
Ensures all insurance information has been completely and accurately obtained. Documents all pertinent insurance information. Documents information given or received to support actions taken on insurance charges or referral issues.
Identifies special policy clauses or pre-existing conditions and verifies effective date of policies.
Documents patient’s fiscal responsibility in system and communicates to internal staff the patient’s and insurance responsibility a professional manner.
Notifies appropriate work units of patient’s insurance coverage, authorizations, or status.
Reviews payer guides to understand the contract provisions related to verifications and authorization requirements. Submits guide discrepancies to Supervisor/Manager to ensure guide is current and up-to-date.
Provides support to Customer Care, Clinical and Sales teams by responding to inquiries regarding the status of a patient’s insurance verification or authorization status.
Attends HIPAA training and other training sessions as required
Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and procedures
Assists with answering process related questions for new hires
Participates in company meetings, as necessary
Performs other duties as assigned

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
One year of healthcare related experience
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrate superior customer service skills
Process and detail oriented
Strong computer skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills in complex situations
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong skills in fostering cross-functional working relationships
