Philips Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Philips Healthcare, (Plymouth, MN.) in Plymouth, Minnesota

Your Challenge: We have an exciting opportunity for an engineer with stent and delivery system process development experience to work on programs aimed to treat vascular diseases. This role will lead process development and product industrialization activities through product development and into commercialization.

This person will lead process development of new products, ensuring that manufacturing processes meet requirements, and identifying and recommending solutions for complex technical issues. Activities include knowledge transfer from other sites, process technology development, pilot line development, prototyping and facilitating technical team meetings regarding these topics.

You are responsible for:

  • Initiating and executing on product industrialization activities including equipment selection, process development, process characterization and process validation, in support of new product development as well as design changes.

  • Orchestrating design for lean manufacturing – applying tools such as value stream mapping, standard work and design for flow

  • Driving key performance indicators such as Cost of Goods, Yield, Output, Quality throughout projects and into commercialization

  • Manufacturing input focusing on Design for Manufacturability, Reliability, Serviceability

  • Providing in-depth knowledge for problem solving linked to Manufacturing processes and equipment

  • Collaborating with cross-functional team members throughout product development phases to ensure program success

  • Supporting internal manufacturing, external manufacturing and manufacturing transfer projects.

  • Providing work direction, technical guidance, coaching and mentorship to other engineers

  • Making data driven decisions using appropriate analytical methodologies

  • Employing equipment, processes and procedures which promote a healthy, safe, and secure work environment

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • BS Engineering degree or equivalent work experience. MS degree in engineering preferred

  • 10+ total years’ experience in product development in the medical device industry with a minimum of 3 years’ experience with stents, catheters or delivery systems

  • Successful record of accomplishment executing complex manufacturing or new product development projects / programs / improvement opportunities (timelines, quality, capacity, capability, cost, productivity some key metrics).

  • Strong leadership skills (change management, communications, building rapport and executing within a complex matrixed organization)

  • Effectively communicates to numerous stakeholders including senior management, other Business Groups, internal and/or external customers and staff.

  • Demonstrated ability in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (certification preferred)

  • Experience with design for manufacturing, assembly, and testability; project management; and coaching / mentoring junior engineers

  • Proficient with FDA QSR/cGMP and ISO13485 requirements to maintain commitment to environmental and quality regulations.
