Your challenge

  • Identify research directions, lead certain technical areas, and discover new solutions on medical imaging.

  • Lead or execute research project(s) according to time, cost, and quality requirement, and achieve good balance for the developed solutions.

  • Establish clinical and academic connection to enable open innovation for rapidly developing novel solution for the market.

  • Manage multiple parallel tasks when needed with excellent quality.

  • Deal well with multiple relationships – internal and external - to bring tasks into success.

  • Assist department head and team leader in building up competency within the team.

Your responsibilities

  • Contribute to shape the strategic innovation portfolio on Medical Imaging in Philips Research China.

  • Provide technical leadership in the relevant areas.

  • Create concepts and develop innovative solutions for Medical Imaging.

  • Be responsible for steering the research direction and approach of relevant projects, and driving the project teams to execute smoothly and efficiently and deliver results on time and in good.

  • Contribute to build up and strengthen the competency areas based on research needs and application requirement.

  • Keep up-to-date on the technological development in the relevant areas, and assist in identifying related research topics translatable to business opportunities.

  • Document well the research outcome in the form of IP, internal technical reports and quality publications, where applicable.

  • Work across projects, groups, labs and functions, and effectively communicate with the internal stakeholders in defining, developing and releasing projects, being able to understand and bridge different views.

  • Maintain and strengthen the network in clinical, industry and academy, and actively seek for open innovation opportunities with hospitals, universities, institutes and other external knowledge centers, to accelerate and ensure the success of research projects.

  • Be responsible for maintaining and updating personal knowledge and expertise, in respect to innovation, new technical developments and quality, within his/her application areas.

Philips Research is the essential force of front end innovation. Philips Research China was established in 2000. Clinical Solutions department is working on medical imaging, Healthcare IT and chronic disease management.

You will be part of the medical imaging team and report directly to the team leader. You will have close interaction with global research team and relevant local/global Business Unit.

We are looking for

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or other related fields.

  • Six years or above research experience on medical imaging is a must.

  • Solid experience on medical imaging and image analysis with good track record e.g. publications at renowned international journals/conferences.

  • Knowledge and experience on image analytics using Deep Learning is a plus.

  • Overseas education and research experience is preferred.

  • Understanding and analysis of market, industry and technology trends, and clinical workflow and systems, with an emphasis on radiology or interventional procedures.

  • Experience in leading in a multi-site multi-partner R&D environment.

  • Experience in analyzing the stakeholder environment and needs to achieve common objectives, considering contradicting interests and making the best decisions for research projects as well as the business. Highly motivated and passionate on industrial research ;

  • Able to continuously challenge the status quo, with a strong desire to improve organizational effectiveness structurally.

  • Always looking for perfection and don’t accept underperformance or poor results. Have a quality mindset.

  • Strong drive for results with strong problem solving capability.

  • A strong leader and a team player. An excellent communicator and motivator, skilled in managing interpersonal processes.
