Philips Supplier Account Manager in Shanghai, China


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Support Philips’ groundbreaking technologies. The Supplier Account Management is a supplier-focused role, which aligns the supply base with the business needs, at optimum total cost, meeting the defined requirements of a business entity. Applying continuous improvement of processes and technologies that support material decisions within the assigned scope.

As a Global Supplier Account Manager (GSAM) you will support developing and coordinating key commodity strategies within the Bill of Materials (BOM) procurement. You will be accountable for Total Cost of Ownership, including material costs, long-term assurance of supply, supplier selection and performance and procurement information/data management, growth and innovation, while effectively managing risk and spend.

You are responsible for

  • Maintaining and executing commodity strategies for the assigned supplier portfolio

  • Managing Supplier performance scorecard using the Global Supplier Rating System (GSRS) and enrich it with cross-functional stakeholder feedback/calibration

  • Relentlessly driving impact to the bottom and top line through Supplier Performance Development and innovative negotiation approach. Manage the competition in the supply base to secure a healthy tension between suppliers to foster cost and feature innovation

  • Responsible for supplier evaluation and management within the assigned scope

  • Leading strategic contract and price negotiations for assigned supplier portfolio, including gathering relevant benchmark data, supply market intelligence and driving DfX events

  • Contract management within the assigned scope (develop, maintain and execute)

  • Manage and demand continuously improved quality from supplier and drives clear actions to achieve this

  • Ensuring related risks are controlled and mitigated

  • Ensuring Q&R compliance for all new supplier deployment as relevant

You are a part of

A global commodity team consisting of Supplier Account Managers (SAMs), continuously interfacing with innovative technologies and companies.

You will frequently interface with R&D, Procurement Engineering, Product Marketing, Quality and Regulatory, Legal and Operations.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master degree in a relevant discipline

  • At least 5 years knowledge and experience in finished goods procurement preferably in a global company

  • Good understanding of Licensing and IP aspects

  • Experience in a production environment (medical/FDA regulated preferred) – an advantage

  • Comfortable working with R&D Engineering, Marketing, Quality & Regulatory and closely partnering with Legal

  • Fluent in verbal and written English
