Philips Lead Engineer, Mechanical Development (Heating) in Shenzhen, China


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Contribute to Philips Kitchen Appliances New Product Development team and build a high growth business that will help improve the lives of millions of people.

You are responsible for

  • Generally supporting project Engineering Architect in development of new products in Kitchen Appliances according to the Philips Product Development process and in an OEM relationship with manufacturing suppliers. Also provide technical support to pre-development process.

  • In a concept stage, support Architect and wider team in developing product design, perform technical analysis, define requirements and product specifications.

  • In other words, understand system requirement and translate them into product specification in cooperation with functional team.

  • In a detail design stage, support Architect in transferring technical drawings to supplier and play a leading role in collaborating with their engineering team to review design and ensure that product- and technical drawing requirements meet Philips standard

  • In an off-tool stage, support Philips process engineer and supplier team to ensure part sample measurement are collected correctly according to critical dimensions. Analyze data, implement and document design changes.

  • Ongoing engineering documentation to high standard; Product Specifications, dFMEA, dimension and tolerance control table updates & all PDLM Engineering deliverables

  • Actively support team idea funnel process, identify and drive design to value innovation and seek cost-down opportunities of existing products by competitor product teardown analysis, value engineering and idea generating activities

You are a part of

You will be one of engineering team member, who will work independently, but also team up with other functional team for technical decision.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering related discipline, major in mechanical engineering is preferred.

  • Strong mechanical knowledge background in household electric appliance especially in heating product development or the relevant field. (Familiar with Kitchen appliances electronic design preference)

  • Excellent experience with CAD software (Pro-E is preferred), familiar with quality tools : dFMEA, VoC-to-CTQ flowdown

  • Experience in material coating is advantage.

  • Microsoft software; PowerPoint, word, excel,

  • Good skill in English, Mandarin.
