Philips Mechanical Engineer in Suzhou, China

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Develop various mechanical engineering solutions encompassing design, implementation and testing to meet sub-system requirements for CT and PET/CT Scanners.

You are responsible for

KARS (but are not limited to):

  • Review and coordination of the CT Product Roadmap, provide the technical input for CT Product Roadmap.

  • Developing and maintaining mechanical subsystem quality and engineering project funnel

  • Influencing cross-functional teams to implement quality actions

  • Providing guidance and requirements to new product development teams in order to improve quality of new releases

  • Design assurance and design control/process compliance on Subsystem/Platform level

  • Leading cross function teams access/evaluate the CT technical scope/effort.

  • Supporting supplier screening and supplier development

  • Versed in Mechanical tolerance analysis, welding, die casting, color and painting design

Design activities

  • Understanding marketing and customer needs of CT product Mechanical

  • Leading design feasibility study

  • Leading design visualization efforts with 3D CAD models and essential component and assembly details to explore multiple design options

  • Developing innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, serviceability, warranty, cost and manufacturability

  • Developing engineering design concepts for components and mechanical assemblies that have tough requirements for usability, precision, reliability, cost and schedule

  • Conducting analysis of installed base and new product reliability using FMEA, Weibull Analysis tools

Verification/Validation activity:

  • Leading subsystem development of verification and validation activity and execution

  • Verifying and validating subsystem level reliability

  • Working with service engineer to improve product serviceability and reduce warranty cost

  • Leading the subsystem defect and design change activity during product development phase

Design transfer/post-market activity:

  • Working closely with supplier to ensure the product quality

  • Supporting product design transfer R&D delivery

  • Support field issue analysis and close

You are a part of

A progressive and energetic team that contributes directly to the growth of the business. You have a direct reporting line to the Manager, Product Engineering , with Cross functional team as your key stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 3-4 years’ experience in designing & development solutions for use in Medical Imaging scanners

  • Proficient in using mechanical CAD software (both 3D modeling and 2D drafting), Pro/E is a must and I-Deas is highly desired

  • Experience in finite element analysis, material design and motion control is preferred

  • Working knowledge of designing to the IEC 60601 standard(s)

  • Product development process and good knowledge in ISO13485 (preferred)

  • Ability to work within a cross functional organization with good communication skills.

  • Structured problem analysis and solving

  • Must be open-minded to assure best design is chosen

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills while communicating in both English and Chinese
