You are responsible for
Analyze competitors’ products through reverse engineering efforts to investigate instances of third party patent infringement.
Prepare infringement and validity analysis, including claim chart mapping to technical standards or other use cases.
Engage in technical and commercial discussions with license targets.
Draft and negotiate intellectual property license agreements under the supervision and assistance of senior team members.
When necessary, contribute to implementing and managing litigation to support licensing efforts.
Coordinate actions with colleagues worldwide in a team environment.
Maintain a thorough up-to-date knowledge of IP law and related legal fields
You are a part of
Joining Philips IP&S as an IP Counsel in the General Licensing team, you will become part of an international community of IP professionals with wide-ranging technical backgrounds and IP experience, gained both inside and outside Philips. Comprising professionals of many different nationalities who collaborate with Philips businesses and do licensing across the globe.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
A Bachelor’s degree and technical background in engineering or physics; a Master’s degree or higher is a plus.
At least 10 years of experience in patent creation, IP counselling, defending IP assertions, contributing to IP litigation and/or IP licensing. Registered Patent Attorney and/or having a law degree is a plus.
Experience gained either at a law firm or in-house (preferably at a multinational organization), or a mixture of the two. Deal making experience is a significant plus.
Ability to understand patent claims, to be able to create and understand claim charts and infringement studies, and to be able to engage in discussions with third parties about infringement and licensing of patents.
Confidence, critical thinking and experience at multitasking.
Strong professional drive.
Excellent analytical and Intellectual capabilities.
Excellent relationship building, influencing and negotiating abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English to operate at all levels both internally and externally.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a multicultural environment.
Willing to travel.
