Philips is seeking a Networking Technical Support Engineer/ Integration Project Manager for the Managed Equipment Services group. The Networking Engineer / Integration Project Manager role is to participate in the planning, coordination, and solution development and implementation activities related to the integration of applications and technologies within Healthcare application integration environment.

The role is also for acting as the key liaison between Philip as the Managed Equipment Services Provider and the hospital clinical users group, Clinical Informatics EPIC group, redevelopment ICAT group, Managed Integration Services Provider, Vendors implementation teams, Project Networking contractors, building systems planning, procurement group, commissioning and training process.

Work Location

A successful candidate will be located in the Greater Toronto Area and will travel to our partner hospital locations. Relocation will not be provided.

You are responsible for

  • Design and lead the implementation and testing of complex IT integration solutions following industry and proprietary real-time patient data transfer requirement.

  • Provide consultation to healthcare institutions on IT integration strategies and system integrations.

  • Troubleshoot complex system integration issues to ensure acceptable (QOS) Quality of Service.

  • Lead installation of complex multi-phase systems composed of IT infrastructure and patient monitoring in both clinical and non-clinical environments across an expansive geography.

  • Provide technical review of system configurations to ensure viability of system performance.

  • Lead and direct a diverse team of internal and external installation resources.

  • Shares responsibility of successful project completion with the assigned Project Manager and project team.

  • Provide integration environment technical knowledge and experience during the planning, execution, and management of integrating new applications into the existing application environment.

  • Identify and resolve networking and systems connectivity and integration issues.

  • Develop standards and processes to support and facilitate integration projects and initiatives.

  • Identify common patterns and document best practices for networking integration and systems connectivity.

  • Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure the achievement of strategic goals as they relate to decision-making, education, implementation, ongoing evaluation, maintenance and upgrading of technologies and clinical information systems used throughout the hospital.

  • Participate in integration testing phase of software and applications under development in order to identify and remedy potential problem areas.

  • Assist application software developers and engineers in development of APIs.

  • Manage all software development and engineering teams and confirm inclusive understanding of application architectures and required functionality.

  • Manage all medical equipment vendors’ application software deployed in the Philips and the customer’s ICAT environment and confirm their technical integration capabilities.

  • Design, develop, and deploy solutions within customer architectural principles, policies, and guidelines.

  • Integrate research into practice and use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to guide evidence-based decisions in advocating for positive patient outcomes.

  • Advise on future trends and technologies which would advance professional practice.

  • Responsible for managing and implementation of integrated clinical information systems.

  • Develop training programs and facilitate acceptance and adoption of clinical and business applications.

You are a part of

The Managed Equipment Services business serves the healthcare community through effective and efficient management of capital medical equipment/solution implementation in various areas within the healthcare continuum.

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience

  • BS Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Biomedical disciplines with at least two years’ experience in Healthcare / IT environments preferred.

  • Oracle certified (OCA), significant Java experience required, CCNP or equivalent certification e.g. CCNP/wireless etc.

  • Extensive knowledge of information system technologies as reflected in formal Microsoft, Cisco, VM, or Active directory certifications desirable.

  • Extensive knowledge of Healthcare systems and clinical informatics solutions and Healthcare integration.

  • Extensive knowledge of HL7 and the integration of medical equipment with EPIC as the electronic medical record system.

  • Extensive knowledge of information system technologies as reflected in formal Microsoft and Cisco certifications.

  • Own technical issues through resolution.

  • Influence internal and external resources to a stated objective without formal lines of authority.

  • Effectively communicate to CXO level management - internal and external.

  • Effectively negotiate technical requirements and cost efficiency.

  • Deliver required results with high levels of customer satisfaction, both internal and external.

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment desired

  • Ability to travel approximately 20%.
